Stereotactically navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) can stimulate the cerebral cortex noninvasively at precisely defined areas or to interrupt neuronal networks at specific locations and latencies. The Martinos Center TMS Lab is equipped with:
- Two MagPro X100 w/ MagOption stimulators and one MagPro XP stimulator.
- Multiple MagPro (including MRI-compatible and liquid-cooled) TMS coils.
- A Localite TMS navigator system (w./ MR compatible neuronavigation).
- Bittium NeurONE Tesla EEG/EMG system (both TMS and MRI compatible).
- State-of-the art robotically controlled TMS coil positioning system for best possible targeting accuracy (Axilum TMS Cobot).
- TMS-compatible RF receive coil array for concurrent TMS/fMRI.
- Computer-controlled visual, auditory, and somatosensory stimulation systems as well as behavioral response monitoring are available in the laboratory.
- Our comprehensive analysis software suite allows integration of TMS, EEG/MEG/EMG, MRI, and fMRI data. We have also an in-house built computational electric field (E-field) modeling engine that can be used to visualize the stimulated hot-spots in real time or off-line.
- The TMS Core laboratory equipment are installed in a shielded room that enables concurrent recording of high-quality electrophysiological signals.
